Robyne has loved words since she was small. Words delight her: their sound; how they look on the page. She wrote her first poem in Grade 3 when she was seven about mermaids and mermen.
After completing a Bachelor of Arts Communication (Public Relations) at Mitchell College (now Charles Sturt University) Robyne worked as a journalist in television, newspapers and radio, and later moved back into public relations and marketing related positions in education, health and the arts. Most recently she has consulted to businesses in the health and community care sector.
Words and communication are at the heart of everything she does whether that be corporate writing, non-fiction, essays, columns, fiction and poetry, and the writing workshops she runs for people of all ages. Robyne also lectures in marketing, leadership and organisational communication at Charles Sturt University.
Her work has appeared in Along the Wallaby Track: 28 writers from Romania and Australia; Seizure Online, Tincture Journal, ZineWest, Four W Anthologies (numerous), Short and Scary and New Albury Writing and her two collections of short stories, The Only Constant and The Basket and the Briefcase. Her new collection, Single Shots has just been released.
She has been proud to be a member of the Australian Olympic team in Sydney and Athens as a senior media officer communicating with the world’s media about the team.
In 2013 Robyne completed an MA Cultural and Creative Practice at the Writing and Society Research Centre at Western Sydney University gaining a meritorious grading for her major project investigating using fiction to write family history. She recently completed her first novel which is an extension of this project.
I’ve enjoyed a career spanning 30 years in media, marketing and communications working across newspapers, television and radio as well as two stints with the Australian Olympic Team as a senior media officer in Sydney 2000 and Athens, 2004, and the joy of coordinating three Write around the Murray Festivals.
